ASHA 2010

The Social Skill Builder exhibitor booth at the 2010 ASHA Convention in Philadelphia.

At ASHA: Beta Preview of Social Detective Software Popular, Video Modeling Session Well Attended

At the 2010 ASHA Convention in Philadelphia, Nov. 18-20, the Social Skill Builder exhibitor booth bustled with attendees eager to learn more about our interactive software programs and video modeling techniques. The beta version of You Are a Social Detective, our latest CD scheduled for release early next year, received excellent reviews and many pre-orders.

Based on the highly esteemed book, You are a Social Detective, by Social Thinking's Michelle Garcia Winner and Pamela Crooke, the software pairs Social Skill Builder’s video modeling method with the vocabulary and process of Social Thinking’s book.

Students will learn to use their eyes, ears and brains to collect clues to become "Social Thinkers." They find clues to identify expected and unexpected behaviors, to understand the social intentions of others, and to understand that their thoughts, feelings and actions toward others have consequences.

Also at the ASHA conference, more than 300 people attended Social Skill Builder cofounder Laurie Jacobs' presentation "Lights, Camera, Interaction!" The session explored the proven benefits of video modeling for improving social language and explained how to customize the experience for individual students.
